Automation to Existing Gates

GDR Gates and Doors supply and install underground, hydraulic, sliding, swing arm and articulated automation kits to new or existing gates. We tailor automation packages to suit individual requirements and budgets. We can automate all our wooden, steel and sliding gates.

You may already have existing gates on your property. In most cases, we can automate your existing gates without going to the expense of having replacement gates. Should your existing gates require alterations to accommodate the automation, our in-house fabrication team are fully skilled to make the alterations required.

Whether your requirement for automated gates is for security, to provide privacy or simply to enhance the look of your property, it is important to think about how you wish to control your automated gates.  There are many options available from a simple remote in and out operation to intercoms and induction loops. Please see below for various options available:

Entry and Exit Options

2 Button Remotes

All our installations include the supply of 2x two button remote controls. When the button is pressed, it will open the gates allowing entry and  exit.

Additional remotes are available upon request (for an additional cost).

Hardwired Intercom

The intercom is located at the gate position which allows verbal communication from the gate position to a phone situated within the house.

Upon typing in the correct 4 digit PIN into the intercom the gates will also open.

VX800 Keypad
The keypad is located at the gate position.

Upon typing in the correct 4 digit PIN the gates will open.

Push Button and Timer
The simplest and often the most effective form of opening gate is by the means of a weatherproof push button.

Two buttons can be installed, one on the outside for entry and one on the inside for exit. They can be positioned anywhere to suit your installation.

Push buttons can be controlled via a time switch so the gate opening times are restricted to accommodate regular deliveries / collections. Once the time switch has cut off the pushbuttons, only authorised personnel with other forms of access control i.e. remotes would be able to open the gates.

Wireless GSM Intercom with Keypad

GSM intercom systems use mobile phone networks to dial a phone number of your choice when a visitor presses the call button at the gate.

When pressed, it will call the pre-defined telephone number(s) of the occupant – this can be a landline number or mobile number – or both.

Each call button can be set to ring the 1st programmed number, if there’s no answer after a predetermined amount of time, then it will attempt to call the second programmed number.

It allows you to answer your intercom system from anywhere in the world and choose when you wish to open the gates.

The addition of a keypad gives you another access control option by allowing you to open the gate by typing in the correct 4-digit PIN.

The GSM works entirely off a SIM card with an average yearly cost of £35.00 (estimation) and is also available with 1 – 10 call buttons for gates serving multi-residential houses.

Hardwired Video Intercom

Hardwired video intercoms allow a voice or video link between the gate and handset featuring a release button for the gate. A 4-digit PIN typed into the intercom the gates will also open them.

Free Entry and Exit Induction Loops

An induction loop is made up of a wire shaped loop, laid repeatedly around a rectangle to create a coil and magnetic field.

When a vehicle approaches, they will automatically open. The loops can be laid to allow either free entrance or exit (or both). They are often overridden by a time switch so that access can be restricted to certain hours.

Typically, induction loops are used on busy, accessible gateways to allow freedom of vehicle movement.
